Currently I think there are things you can attach to your keys or wallet and you can search for them when you want to, but your idea is even better because you are notified when you forget something rather than waiting until you find out yourself. However, when you further talked about your app you said that it alerts you when you are a certain distance away from it which I think is genius. You are on your way to greatness.
